Week 16

Bibliographies and Websites

I have yet to finish my bibliography OR work on the website for my friend. She hasn't given me a domain name, so I can't start a website for her! It's kind of a problem, but I'll work through it. Maybe I can start some of the code since she gave me the research that I have to use....

Week 15

Continued Bibliography Work

I'm continuing to work on my bibliography and edit my blogs. The school is blocking blogs, however, so it's really hard to edit my spelling and grammar. I'll try to work more on it at home if I have time!

Week 14

Bibliography Time!

We're supposed to start our bibliography today, however, I'm not sure how to source someone who has just occasionally given me tips. Also, I'm not sure if I have to site the sources I've used to make other projects during this if I used parts of those projects to help me with this.

My friend Alex (not the crazy skateboard dude) is going to be giving me the info she learned about colour blindness, and I'm going to be making her a webpage, which will end up being my final project as well as hers.

Week 13

Making Progress...or not

Unfortunately, I haven't made any large amounts of progress recently. I've been working on the JavaScript course on codecademy.com, but that was mainly to create something to flirt with my programmer boyfriend. I've been swamped lately with this weird thing called homework, which has succesfully taken up all the free time I might've had outside of robotics. Despite that, I'm hoping to continue working and learning, although my website may turn from a Tiger Dynasty site to a site for me to host all my projects. It happens.

Check out the site here!

Week 12

Work Day

Today I was able to work on my website. I've only really added a sort of guide at the top that allows people to maneuver the website easily. I've also added a new spot for a blog, which might just link to here with the occasional updates on the team. I think this will be pretty awesome.

(Today's post nearly came to you in Comic Sans because when I suggested it, Alex agreed. Luckily for all of us, the styling transferred to all the posts, which I really don't want. You can thank him for that near disaster by choosing his name below to visit his blog.)

Week 11

Visiting Friends

I visited the blogs of my friends/classmates today. Many of them had interesting posts and projects.

My first stop was the blog of my friend Alex who is currently building a hoverboard. Well, not entirely. He's working on a motorized skateboard which, as long as he wears proper safety gear (hint hint) , could be the coolest thing anyone I know has ever built (aside from Hobbes I, II, and III).

The second blog I visited was the blog of Reece who's trying to code a game on the computer. He's trying to convince me to learn JavaScript and how it works with Unity, but given my current progress with html and css, that won't be happening anytime soon

My final stop was Matt. He's working on analysing and researching emotions and their causes. It's actually pretty interesting, but he's still working on getting everything up.

I highly recommend visiting any of these blogs. The projects are fun to follow, and they're always good for a quick laugh. (GIFs...everywhere.)

As I devote more and more time into my new position as the business leader on the robotics team, I'll be having less time to work on my website. I'll do my best anyway!

Week 10

Back to School!

Over break, I didn't work on my project much. However, I recently learned how to create a table using html, which enabled me to put all my links at the top of my website (without using JQuery or JavaScript!). I still have a lot to work on however.

Work done Work to do
Create basic pages Learn how to make pages look nicer
Changed colours of text and backgrounds Learn how to add more CSS
Work on the team's official website to learn Continue to edit my website

I'm hoping to be able to work on my website and write "blog" entries for the team as build season continues, but robotics is taking up most of my life right now! I don't know if I'll have a very cool end project because my html work might go into working on the official website of the team, since it desperately needs help!
